I realize this is an odd question to ask, but with March 10th coming up and with my extreme anxiety, I am March 10th millisecond by millisecond. What do the decision letters look like? Will it be like two lines saying something like “Dear … We regret to inform you that you have been placed on a waiting list for admission to … Thank you for your application.”
Or, will it be a longer letter explaining stuff? Or, if it is an acceptance letter, will it just say I got accepted and I have until April 10th to inform the school when if I will be attending the following year? Or, will it be a long letter explaining what to do from there and what the school is about? I cannot really put it in words, but I am just curious.
I know that some schools make the acceptances personalized, whereas most of the schools will make your R/W letter the same as all of the others. However, you can always call and figure out why you were rejected/waitlisted. My idea for an acceptance would be pretty long, maybe a page or so. I’m guessing that they’d mention A10, but not go into deep detail. Again; depending on the school, the acceptance may be personalized. Usually in R/W letters, they say something like “this year was an extremely competitive one”. I’m guessing that R/W letters should still be roughly a page long. Good luck!
@XRayKiller3130 – depending on the school, they provide you with a welcome package. One school I know sends you a book that they study Freshman year. Wait list letters often come after M10. Most school have an on-line or email notification system. And a lot of schools have their notification system on their website or it is documented here on CC.
@XRayKiller3130 – First, most candidates are wait-listed. Most of those that are wait listed are really turned down but this is a soft landing. “We had tons of great candidate and we just had to make a tough decision. Good Luck with your search”… This leaves you with a positive impression.
@MAandMEmom / @GoatMama – Did you received personalize letters detailing turned down information? I am assuming that is not what you are convening but it appears what XRay is inferring.
@laenen Apologies as I thought is was for acceptances. My DD received one wait list which was from Andover and the Gateway portal they used last year was totally down most of the day. I knew she wasn’t getting in though as we didn’t receive a package and it was reported here that packages were received mid-morning. I recall that they finally sent a mail merged email about 5 pm which was very general in nature. I do hope they’ve opted for their own portal this year! We accepted a spot on the wait list at Andover (I guess just because that’s what everyone does) and I want to say that closer to A10, they sent something indicating that they likely were not going to go to the list. She was accepted at all other schools where she had applied.
Our acceptance list was very personalized. What was their concern, and what made them to take her, what do they think she will gain from attending. Reading it again now, seems like they knew daughter more than I thought they knew last year.
I was curious about both. Thank you so much for the information guys! I heard that Taft may come out with their decisions at midnight. That is too close for comfort.
Not the email, the letter. You should receive a package with a personalized letter, info on FA (if applicable), etc. MX sounds like a great fit for you with your community service/leadership qualities and their leadership training. Not surprised at all you were accepted!
Thanks @GoatMama
Also wanted to ask if there is anything important in the package (i.e something like instructions)… We won’t be back home (in the 'States) until after A10…
@Atria Yes, there will be instructions for accepting and enrolling. You can always call your AO if you need to get this info sent differently or emailed to you.
