Assist:
- Students are required to take only two courses from the community college,
regardless of how many community college courses articulate to a single UC
Berkeley course.

I am confused by what they mean because for my school it goes like this:

BIOLOGY 1A l BIOL 402 (5) & BIOL 422 (5)

BIOLOGY 1AL

BIOLOGY 1B l BIOL 412 (5) & BIOL 422 (5)

Am I correct in thinking that I only have to take two bio classes and not the three to complete UCB BIO 1A & 1B?

You mean like here?
[ASSIST Report: SCC 12-13 UCB Articulation Agreement by Major](http://web1.assist.org/web-assist/report.do?agreement=aa&reportPath=REPORT_2&reportScript=Rep2.pl&event=19&dir=1&sia=SCC&ria=UCB&ia=SCC&oia=UCB&aay=12-13&ay=12-13&dora=PSYCH)

It does look like you can choose any two courses from the list of biological science courses. Note that there is considerable flexibility in what biology courses psychology major applicants at Berkeley can take (i.e. they do not have to be Biology 1A/1AL and 1B, or their articulated equivalents at community colleges):

If in doubt, you can contact the department.

If you are also pre-med, you need to check to see how the courses align with pre-med requirements.
