What does BC look at the most?

Like what is a rank of what they look at in considering an applicant.
Like:

  1. GPA
  2. ACT/SAT
    Etc.

No one can tell you apart from one of the admissions officers. However, most people agree that at BC, just like every other highly competitive university, considers each part of the application in combination to the others.

But how does GPA compared with SAT or work experience vs. affirmative action? Since admissions is holistic, it depends on the context of your application. There is no definitive answer. For example, an applicant from a poor working-class neighborhood might have his GPA weighed more heavily than the SAT because he doesn’t have access to expensive SAT prep class. It might be the opposite if you attend a school where the valedictorian has a 4.3 GPA and the 85th ranked student has a 4.1; SAT would help separate them. There are a hundred factors that make up an application and they interact differently depending on context of each application. It’s impossible to predict specifically how each factor will play in your specific application.

One thing I have noticed is that people say BC students are all so similar, but I believe this is because the admissions board looks for students that are balanced in their activites and successful in all they do. It is a place of smar, driven, and successful students: what more diversity does a place need?
