What does "Class of 2009" mean?

<p>Hi,</p>

<p>sorry for posting that question here, but why is sub-forum called "Class of 2009"? Are you guys graduating in 2009? Or are you applying for fall 2009?</p>

<p>I really don't unterstand what's going on here :-)... I thought people apply to colleges a year or so before!?</p>

<p>Hope somebody can shed some light on this.</p>

<p>it means that we are going to gradute in 2009. we all were admitted already and we are entering in 2005.</p>

<p>Although there's a good chance that many of us will end up staying longer (or shorter) than four years. I personally may stay a fifth year to pursue a Master's, so who knows?</p>

<p>i'm gonna be one of those semi-class of '09 students, my high school was a college program so I have 2 yrs of college credit that stanford can choose to accept from, so I might end up graduating in '08.</p>
