What does class rank/size mean?

What does class rank/size mean? It said I’m 1 of 800. Does that mean I have the highest score in the class? Or does it mean everyone that has a 4.0 got a 1 of 800? I’m not very sure. What do you guys think?

I think that means you rank #1 out of a class of 800.

There are 800 people in your class, and you have the highest GPA of them all.

You are ranked first in your class, meaning you have the highest GPA. That’s awesome, congratulations! You are also the valedictorian of the class.

I think the OP is asking whether other people are also ranked 1/800. We can’t really know because some schools allow multiple valedictorians and some don’t. However, if you’re an incoming freshman, everyone in your class probably has 1/800 as a class rank because no one has any grades yet.

@Halcyonheather is correct. If multiple students have the same GPA, potentially, they could all have the same rank. Some schools use tiebreakers; some don’t. This is really a question for the OP’s guidance counselor.
