So I’m in 10th grade in the second semester with a 3.3 with no D’s or F’s and I’m scared for the future and scared too . and I’m wondering What specific stuff does CSU check to get accepted there cause I’m trying to get into there and I kind of did bad freshman year but I’m doing good now cause I change school, but if you guys can give me your honest answer please
Go to http://www.csumentor.edu and read! No need to be scared. Be prepared!
Cal States do not use Freshman grades in their GPA calculation but you need to pass any a-g course requirements with a C or higher. They use 10-11th grades only.
https://www2.calstate.edu/apply/eligibility-index
Cal States (except Cal Poly SLO) uses CSU GPA and test scores to determine your eligibility index.
(CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math + CR) or (CSU GPA x 200) + (ACT composite x 10)
They then rank you based on major and EI and accept applicants from the top down until all spots are filled.
You get priority at your local Cal State but if your local Cal state is impacted (more qualified applicants than spots) you will not be guaranteed admission.
Here is a link to determine your local Cal State: http://www.calstate.edu/sas/onestopkiosk/documents/CSULocalAdmission-ServiceAreas.pdf
You can use this link to determine which majors and campuses are impacted: https://www.calstate.edu/sas/documents/impactedprogramsmatrix.pdf
with a 3.3, completed a-g course list and a decent SAT - a student will probably be admitted to any CSU except CP SLO and SDSU - as well as the more competitive programs at other campuses - CS at SJSU for example. Long Beach will be hit and miss by major. That leaves lots of options.
