I'm applying to the college, and for the teacher rec it says one from a "core subject." What counts as core?
I have 3 option possible recs: AP Environment teacher, Econ teacher (who also taunt me in AP Psych), or my Genetics and Micro-Bio teacher (who is also my ski coach).
Do any of those 3 count as a "core" teacher?

To my understanding core courses include the following subject areas: English, Math, History, Science, or Foreign Language. I would think that any of the courses you posted would work out just fine. If you’ve had a teacher for more than one course (and did well in those courses), they would have more anecdotal evidence from which to choose when writing your recommendation.

The teacher rec is designed to give a close snapshot of your academic abilities/potential, intellectual curiosity, motivation for learning (self-motivated b/c you love to learn, motivated solely for the grade, parents are the driving force, etc.), are you brillant but contribute nothing to the class, brillant but tend to get frustrated and annoyed with your classmates when they can’t get it as quickly, brillant and you are the first one at afternoon study groups to help out your classmates, etc. At least that is the way my college counselor explained their purpose… Teachers are watching EVERYTHING so choose very carefully!

Go with Genetics teacher - provided she is a good writer.
