What does Georgetown look for in SFS Applicants?

I'm curious...

International curiosity
A well rounded global prosepctive (Shown through the Global Issue Essay)
A LOT of leadership experience
and I would also say language experience because you do have to declare a language fluency by the time you graduate so SOME experience would be good
Since SFS is supposedly the most self selective applicant pool, I would say having strong grades and standing out amongst the others with something unique about yourself is also important.

Aside from those I think it's pretty much what GU looks for in all the other applicants to the other schools. =]

This might also help from the SFS site itself!

Thanks for the info!

Does tutoring kids considered as leadership positions, as well?

Honestly probably not, tutoring is one of THE most common ECs.

same goes for "the president of student council" and the preisdnet of club A. don't you think? I don't think it's about WHAT YOU DO but more like WHAT YOU GOT OUT OF IT/HOW YOU REACTED IT/ etc.

yeah..id have to agree most leadership positions are pretty common, but they still like to see them. President or a VP spot on any club or committee is going to look good. Of course something unique would be great if you HAVE it, but if you don't then it's like you said what you got out of it =]

I did tutor..ALOT haha I spent one summer tutoring New York City kids (I'm from chicago) and Tutored for my Chinese school too as a Teacher's Aide. I'm sure that is common too, but I got a lot out of it and learned alot! =]

Are you considering applying to SFS?

yea.. I'm applying tomorrow! exciting!

haha awesomee =] Good luck with your app~! If ya need any more help, let me know.
