What does Georgia Tech do with their applications before the Document deadline?

Georgia Tech has by far the earliest early action deadline I have seen thus far. It is October 15th.

However they do not require you to have tests, transcripts, or teacher recommendations until December 1st.

My question is: What do they do with the applications in the mean time? Is this just their way of thinning the herd?

Nobody here that I know of works for GA Tech admissions so your guess is as good as ours.

I just got my counselor minute from GT and they said they really would like to have the supporting documentation in earlier than Dec. 1. They also said “our goal is to have all Early Action files completed by December 1, so please be sure to submit your recommendation letters and school reports prior to that date.”

They said that there will be no organized tours for the month of December from admissions. I think GT’s admission office now realizes that giving the date of Dec. 1 for documents submission may not have been the best idea because it doesn’t give them much review time. They said they were suspending tours due to ambassador’s schedules and admission staff’s need to have the time to review files by the Jan 1 notification date.

Jan 1 notification date? Is that when they will release decisions?

I think they are doing a prelim review. Yes, decisions in 1/1

@ilovebillyjoel The EA decision date is 1/14
