I'm still waiting to hear back from 4 schools for their Neuroscience PhD programs:

UCLA ACCESS
UCI
U of Iowa
Johns Hopkins

I've emailed them all last week asking for an update and gotten no response. Is it safe to assume all 4 are rejections or could they be holding back for a "possible" interview opening?

Does it say anywhere on the website when you can expect to hear a response? Some schools get bogged down if you sent your application/ it was received around the December holidays.

You can also try calling the admissions office asking the status of your application. While they may not be able to tell you over the phone, you can inform them that you have emailed and haven’t heard a response in over a week. Hopefully that should get the ball rolling for you…

I remember not hearing back from one grad school until late May. They told me I was the next person on their list to offer a position to, but unfortunately it didn’t open up (why didn’t they at least tell me I was on a waitlist?).

By that time I was already planning my cross-country drive for the grad school I knew I was going to.

I can tell you that I was at UCI for their INP recruitment weekend in January and that was apparently their only interview session. I know some of the specific programs had interviews the following week and I know at least one person already was offered acceptance into the NBB program. I am currently waiting to hear back from them as far as an acceptance goes…

You might want to check the “results survey” at grad cafe; many of their posters will share when they receive communications – letters or emails – from their applications (by school/program), and it might give you a sense of when to reasonably expect some notification.

I know this waiting period is a stressful time (my D is going through it). Best of luck to you!
