They called to congratulate me on applying and asked me about why I was intrested in the college and stuff like that.

They also asked me if I had questions about student life.

Was this some form of an informal interview or just a follow up or what?

Does it mean I am being considered for admission if they bothered to call ?

It could. Some schools do a really good job of making contacts, and use the student body to help them reach out to students. It may not mean that you are definitely in, but it could mean that you’re not in the “no” pile at this point.

Perhaps, but you can never be too sure, you know? Maybe they just have a sort of outreach program or something. I got a call like that last year too - I just said I had no questions, and was still wait listed. Not to be a downer, but unless this school is a “match,” don’t expect too much just yet…I speak from experience xD.

Thank you for your answers :)

Schools are trying to sell themselves to students as well. This works both ways. It’s hard to remember that as you are over your head in stress, but very soon YOU will be selecting from a group of schools. Information from students representatives is not part of an interview process, it is NOT shared with admissions, it is simply marketing. Enjoy the attention!!
