What does it mean when colleges request that you send in a midyear report ?

What does it mean when colleges request that you send in a midyear report (other than the obvious, that they dont have your report)

My counselor said colleges only call or email to request it if they NEED it to make a decision... as in, if theyre on the fence about you, or want to verify that your senior grades havent dropped (if you had a particularly strong first quarter)

So whadya guys think?

My counselor ****ed up, and it didnt get sent till yesterday, and I got an email from chicago and tufts telling me I needed to send it in... (I sent it everywhere, not just those colleges obviously)

I think that most schools like Chicago and ivies require midyear reports from everyone.

Yeah mine only got sent yesterday as well. I never got any emails/phone calls asking for them though. I hope it doesn’t mean I’m already rejected.

I heard they also don’t mean as much unless you are taking your most rigorous course load in your senior year.
