What does it really take to get accepted to Haas?

I'm going to be entering my 2nd year at a CC this August, and I intend to transfer to Haas for the fall of 2010 (or summer I guess since I need to take summer courses anyway). I have a 4.0, which doesn't mean very much I guess since everyone does too. I'm going to finish my IGETCs, USC General Ed (applying to Marshall as well), and the Breadth and Prerequisite requirements for Haas. I'm in the Honors Program as well (Transfer Alliance Program). I'm also going to be part of my student government for my CC next year (fiscal affairs committee), but I don't think that'll mean much bc I will only be in it for a few months before I apply. I don't have much job experience besides working retail for a few summers. What else do I need to do? I think the resume was like 15%. I'd really appreciate some advice. My 1st choice is actually Marshall (USC) but the tuition costs more than my household's income...

so no one’s gonna help huh?

Hey new member, you don’t go to a forum during the night and ask some question and expect to get answered within an hour, especially at night.

Also, no one is obligated to help, you aren’t paying anyone for their time or anything of the sort, so please, don’t respond, “so no one’s gonna help huh?”

Just be patient.

Sorry if it came out hostile, but your bump came out hostile.

^

well said.

and here’s another bump.
i wanna know this too

I was accepted to Haas from a CC and will be starting in July. Having a 4.0 is great, but you need volunteer work, work experience, or internships, as well.

I had a cumulative 4.0, but also worked part time (25 hrs a week), had a summer internship at a real estate firm, was on the board of my CC’s PTK chapter, and organized a couple on-campus voter registration drives and charity events. I think they are looking for a diverse student body, so anything that can really set you apart from other applicants will definitely help your chances. Maybe it’s not too late to line up an internship this summer.

If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me.

Since you have a 4.0 and are eligible, you have 50% of your stuff done perfectly. You’ll get a few points from the resume, but it’s only 15% of the application; you’ll be fine, considering your grades more than make up for it. What will make or break you are the essays.
