Talent is super important.. they have way too many students applying with 4.0s and near perfect SATs already ;)

Talent

Passion

Luck

All of the above.

More luck than anything else

...or money ;).

ok..one question... Do we have to give a "title"(or naming of the TOPIC) to the additional essay? or just we have to write the matter there...??

talent is bs...mostly luck..probably endurance/determination

Luck

Talent

Money/connections

It all depends on what they're looking for in a given year from a given place. You could be the most brilliant person in the world from a prep school in Massachusetts, but the big fish from Wisconsin has the upper hand. Totally luck of the draw.

i think you need to make the admissions officers feel that they just cannot reject you...they somehow get attached i dunno

yeah i suppose luck also cuz many deffered peopple have sent extra stuff that make them look better and really and unbelievably, they get accepted LOL.

like unlimitedx said, i agree with him. talent is very important. do you guys have any special talents or unusual talents?

i am really focusing on community service and i am planning on to volunteer with some friends to clean our city (though is preetyy clean)
then if i stick to this thing, i could even get into the city's newspaper (there;s one,) but if i get REAAAALLLY LUCKY. if i get the luck to get in the newspaper of the city, that would be great. well, who knows.....

i say, evident passion, amazing essays, outstanding teacher recs (one of a kind), national/international awards/achievements

and luck.

but it's very hard to get national and int'l achievements.... :(

well...you could start with the olympiads (bio, chem, physics, math). you could do intel and siemens research competitions...you could win some essay writing contest. etc.

not good at math or science. lol. kinda working on it to improve my essays...

It takes filling out and sending in the application form and required attachments.

Talent, passion, potential.

Sincerity.

VERITAS

Either being a complete genius or somehow offering something no one else can offer (no matter how small that something may be). Connections don't hurt either, and you have to know how to make your application look.

Everything

LUX et VERITAS

Oh wait a second...
