What does it Really Take to get Admitted to Harvard

a lot of money, a lot of legacy or a lot of blackness/native americaness/hispanicness.

that or you win intel.

Harvard has too many ordinary 800/800/800 5.89 GPA people, so it's the outstanding who get in, plus the aforementioned...

extremely good looks.

I'm sorry, but that's just plain false. I have devilish good looks and i was deferred.

'Tis true, I've seen his picture.

I know this isn't the right thread for legacy questions, but does Harvard look at legacy students any differently than other Ivies? I'm curious because I happen to have legacy at Harvard.

Thanks

Yeah they do you lucky c*nt

:)

They love legacies... they have a 40% chance of admittance.

what i meant to ask is: what are a legacy's chances of getting in at Harvard opposed to a legacy's chances at getting in at, say, Stanford?

Probably better at H than S.

huh. wonder why that is. thanks

If you are a very qualified applicant to Harvard and a legacy, you will probably be accepted whereas most very qualified applicants who are not legacies are denied.

BTW, if you're talking about your uncle from the interview topic, that doesn't count as a legacy.

I'm not, my dad went there also

A 2450 or higher on the SAT would probably raise some eyebrows. You'd definitely get in with a score like that. Also, make up a cool story for your essay. I talked with an adcom who shared a very touching essay a girl wrote about how she was shot in the leg at a bus stop one time and still rode the bus. They probably think that stuff is neat.

I say she's an idiot for not immediately going to the hospital, but whatever.

A 2450 on the SAT would certainly raise more than some eyebrows.

"I say she's an idiot for not immediately going to the hospital, but whatever."

I dont know, I think she was pretty smart. She ended up with a great essay topic

I don't know, duality, that's actually a fairly common score at Harvard.

I don't understand this getting shot/getting on a bus thing and how that was so great. I mean, if you were a bus driver, and some lady with a bullet wound gets on your bus, what do you do? YOU DRIVE TO THE HOSPITAL. And that's probably what happened. So, oh wow she still rode the bus really means...she got a ride to the hospital through public transportation. She should have walked to the hospital. THAT would have been interesting.
