what does it take to be in the top 10% of your class?

We don't rank, but top 10% is 4.5 weighted and above so

a 4.0 with 12 honors/ap/ib classes by the end of junior year

More often than not people will have 3.9 in 16 or so

Show up at least 2x a week, take a few honors/aps and make semi-decent grades (B-C range). It's virtually impossible not to be in the top 10% if you actually put in a little bit of effort. I'm 4th in my class and I've barely ever done any of my homework.

Have a 4.0 UW
top 10% at my school is top 4 and it's very competitive with top sophomores taking 2 AP's and top half of seniors taking 6 or more

Do yer homework.

At my school, about a 3.9 is necessary for the top ten, since I only have fifty students in my class. But there are no AP/IB/honors, so it's possible to get the 3.9 by taking the easiest courses possible. Fortunately, no one does that.

Since we only do UW, about at 3.95 is currently needed to be top 10 in my junior class. For the seniors though, its usually only about a 3.8 UW.

I'm not sure about the exact GPA, but you have to be ranked in the top 9 to be in the top 10%. One of my friends said our grade is ridiculous b/c she has a 3.7 and she's not even in the top 25%. On the flip side, only 2 people have 4.0's (UW)... so 3-9 are all very very close. That's probably b/c my school's grading scale is annoying; an A- (91.5-93) has a different weight than a B+, and B has a different weight from a B-, and so on.

a hell of a lot. you need to have a strong educational background and be highly motivated. supposedly no black/hispanic student has ever made the top 10% at my school because it's no joke.

we got like 6 APs ---i dont do **** an im just outside the top 5%...but rank is determined solely by weighted at my shool..so u just need to take hard classes...if u get C+s/B-'s in APs ur pretty much in because APs carry 30 point on the hundred scal...u need like a 105% weighted to mae top 10 id say..

3.7-8ish UW for top 10% (47 or so students)

Lol wow. at my school a 5.2/5.0W puts you just within the top 25 percent.

uh lol, prolly average a B... in classes that are so ridiculously easy its not even funny haha.

not in the top 15 percent and i have a 3.86.

PRob a 4.6 Weighted would qualify for top ten percent

3.6 or so. It's not easy to get in though, there is one 4.0 in the entire class, we have less grade inflation so a 3.6 is pretty good here.

Don't be an idiot. Don't take dumb classes like paddle sports. Even then, you might be top 10%...

Nobody tells us our rankings (no one bothers to ask) but you'd have to be within the top 6 students. I'm guessing about a 95% average or better (UW). It's pretty tough.

a lil bit above 4.0 w to be in top 10%. We do a regular 4.0 grading scale where ap=5.0

around 3.9 Weighted, a full IB school.

7 honors classes with A's in all of them every single year is not good enough to get you in the top 10% at my school. You need to be getting A's in AP classes too.
