what does it take to get a bid?

Is it easy to get a bid for a fraternity at Vanderbilt? What does it take in order to get a bid? Because pledging takes place second semester, is it hard to get a bid from fraternities?

At first i thought u meant TOC bid as in debate
l0l

You just have to be liked by the brothers. A lot of people rush and they take like 15-20 freshmen in the Spring. Some bottom tier fraternities like Phi Sci and Fiji will give a bid to just about anyone who shows interest; the top tier ones will be highly selective with their bids. Plus there’s a new fraternity (DTD) that will also give a bid to just about anyone.

Hey Pancaked, when you say they take like 15-20 freshmen, do you mean the pledge class is 15-20 kids, or do you mean they give out 15-20 bids? I assume if a pledge class is 15-20 kids, they have to give out like twice as many bids as that because rushers could potentially decline bids.

Thanks for the quick answers!

they aim for a pledge class of 15-20. For some fraternities that means giving out 25 bids, for others it means giving out 45 bids.
