what does it take to get in?

if i want to get accepted to ucsc and major in philosophy
what would i need to have about?

i would graduate in 2010 if that changes things.
what sat / uc gpa / ec/ sat 2 scores and overall general stuff be needed for acceptance?

thanks

i got 1800 on SAT, 3.33 no weighted, and alright sat 2 scores.. but some people i know got in with lower

i have 3.08 weighted GPA 1870 SAT, 790 Physics, 740 Chem, 700 Math IIC, 800 Chinese

a bunch people on facebook UCSC 2012 group have 3.1-3.3 ish GPAs and 1900-2100 ish SATs got in.

One guy got into UCSC with:
GPA: 2.6 (not a typo)
SAT: 2060
SAT2: 730 & 710

ya, so it really depends

3.7, 1780 SAT, 28 ACT

only UC accepted (out of all except riverside, merced,sd) : UCSC

You got into UCSD and going to UCSC?

nono, I only got into UCSC (I did not apply to ucr, ucm,or ucsd)

its not hard. if you do average in school, you'll get in. pretty much.
take advantage of all your academic opportunities and things will go your way.

so lets say by 2010, i have a 3.25 uc gpa and 1990 on the sat in a very good public school taking lots of honors classes and a few aps. would that make it??

definitely, i made in with 3.08 weighted and 1870 GPA.

Eahh...my girl is going to Davis and im going to Santa Cruz...i hate my life.

anyway, incoming freshmen to UCSC class of 2012 (or 2010 if i transfer to another UC)
SAT: 1710
SAT II:
Math II: 600
US History: 570
GPA: 3.4

is that a uc gpa?

Whoa ZeroK... your SAT II's are of the charts. ****ing perfect score in chinese. Are you like... BIONIC OR SOMETHING!!!

i think he is chinese...

it does not take much... I got in with a 2.8, 1700 SAT and some low ass SAT 2's. I just finished my 2nd year here and just got accepted to Davis and UCSD as a transfer so... bye bye UCSC!

^ That is your unusual case.

lol, ya i'm Chinese, and i came here in 7th grade, so i should get 800 on Chinese easily. But one of my friend is same as me, but got 790 on Chinese, so we just laughed at him for not getting perfect score. ^^

If you can get a 3.5 weighted UC GPA, a 1700, 600s in your SAT2s, and decent community service and extra curriculars, there is no reason you won't be a shoe in.

To those who mentioned 2.6 and 2.8 for gpa, is that for Weighted UC GPA (a-g only, Sophomore-Junior only, up to 8 AP semester bonus points)?

lol. at the guy who did UCSC to transfer

i was thinking about taking that path too...but im an incoming freshmen. only time can tell how i'll feel about the campus.

i agree with Cliffdive 100%

***. guys, embrace the slugs. why do you want to transfer you havent even gone yet!!

makes me sad. :(
