What Does It Take To Get Into Mcgill?

I am a junior in high school and I am wondering about what it takes to get into Mcgill. I have another thread about information about me and what I have accomplished. Please post. I need help to figure out what to do.

i am a junior in high school, not a student in junior high school.

McGill is fairly clear about what they want, if you check out their website. There is a U.S. student section with information about SAT I and II cutoffs. Extracurriculars are insignificant unless you're going for one of their very-difficult-to-receive scholarships. They have a GPA cutoff, as well, and it's something like a 3.3 or 3.4 (ninth grade is not considered, I don't think)...I can't quite remember. So, GPA and test scores--that is basically what it takes.

By the way, three SAT IIs are required, if you didn't already know.

I thinkl the GPa cutoff is a 3.5/3.6

it takes money to get in, but that school is not as good as many ppl claim

i have a 3.6 now. The cutoff meaning minimum, or you make it in with that gpa.

what act score is good enough to get in.

What programs are outstanding at McGill and why are people so attracted to it?

its international reputition is one.. !

International reputation? Ha! McGill had lost its reputation years ago.
McGill isn't good anymore like it used to be, when it was actually really funded and such. People keep complaining tuition fees are too high, and because of that and other things, McGill has suffered.

McGill's arguably 2nd in Canada (after U. Toronto). Their Engineering faculty is definitely worthwhile... the cutoffs for mechanical and ECE are 92%. Overall though, it's over-rated by Americans. Apparantly some magazine called it the "Harvard of Canada" (hahahaha!) a few years back, hence why so many Americans apply now (still laughing).

i went there and looked at it, the tour guide said that they basically will take you if you are from the US and have 650+ on all your SATs. (bc they want your money- its more expensive comming from the US) if i remember right, you dont need essays or recs.

McGill is extremely overrated in the U.S. Most Canadians are aware that McGill is nothing like it was 100 years ago when Ernest Rutherford discovered the atomic nucleus there. Even less well-known schools like U of T, UBC, and Queen's University are ranked higher by Maclean's magazine's annual Canadian universities review.

However, tuition there is reasonable, though high by Canadian standards, around US$10,000 a year for non-Canadian students. So if you are looking for a cheap school that still sparks instant recognition in America, go to McGill, but if you are looking for Ivy League-quality education abroad, you should consider Oxford or Cambridge instead.
