What does it take to get into MIT?

Sorry for such a vague question. I am well aware that there is no formula that guarantees that you will be accepted. I am just curious what a student with a good/fair/poor chance at being accepted would look like. I know MIT is a top university and there are certainly no guarantees (not even close) but if you could please include the following information in your post it would be greatly appreciated:

-SAT/ACT (w/ breakdown)
-unweighted GPA (preferably on a 100pt scale)
-prestige of high school
-EC's
-# of AP/college level classes (with scores if possible)
-class rank (including class size)
-anything else you feel is relevant/important

Personal experiences are welcome

Thank you in advance to all who reply.

There’s actually a results thread stickied at the top of the forum, and there are links to the previous five years’ worth of MIT CC results threads in the first post of the FAQ thread, also stickied at the top of the forum.

The statistics on this link may also provide some insight. It won’t tell you who will get in, but you can get a feel for who has a better chance. For example, of the 1,500 or so accepted last year, only 3 had an SAT math score below 650. As the scores increase toward 800, the odds of being accepted were still not great, but did improve significantly.

While excellent grades and scores are important, the admissions committee seems to focus significantly on what candidates have done to demonstrate the traits that MIT is targeting. Those traits are identified on the admissions website.
