What does it take to get into UVA?

What does it take to get into UVA?

I've heard so many different things, and many of them are from people who are completely certain that they are right..yet they have such opposing viewpoints. I have a combined score of 1930 on the new SAT, 1260 if you remove the writing score. I plan on trying to raise my math score of 560. I also have a (I believe) 4.1 or 4.2, and I am a white female (I have heard that this means I am less likely to get picked if I am of the same qualifications as another student who is of a different race or is male). My homestate is Virginia. I also am in the international baccalaureate program. This means that the classes I am in are almost all advanced by at least a year, and several are AP.

I'm applying to NHS at the beginning of this year and I am also planning on starting a debate team at our school, and taking over responsibilities as captain. I take dance, guitar, and piano lessons and I have been taking acting classes/participating in different productions since I was in the second grade.

My question is: Am I anywhere near qualified to gain entry into this school? I plan on applying early decision, but I am torn because I've been told if I apply early decision to William and Mary (my secondary choice) I will have an excellent chance of getting in, but I would much rather go to UVA. I am worried about blowing my chances of going to either of them. Any advice or suggestions on what I can do or what my chances are? Thanks.

I'm interested in both schools too, which is why I'm not applting ED. You have a chance at UVA! Being an in-stater helps, but what part og VA are you from??? You need to raise your SAT scores, though! Also, have you taken any SAT 2s?? They're not required but could help if you were to score well on them!

Good Luck --- maybe I'll see you there in a year!!

I'm from Richmond..and how high do I have to raise my SAT scores?

oh and also I haven't taken SAT 2's..are those offered around the same time as SAT 1's?

Hm....everything you have and more.
