What do you think it takes to get into an ivy league college such as yale or harvard? How many EC's do you need and AP classes and things like that?

First, you need to Cap "Y" and "H".

You can see what the SAT midrange is for H and Y in US News. (very high) As far as ECs...I think it is best to simply pursue your interests. If you have a particular talent or passion, pursue it to the fullest. Better to excel in one or two areas than show shallow involvement in many areas. Take the hardest courseload and most advanced classes you can. try to achieve something that will make you stand out from the pack.

HYP, and all the very top schools, are seeking to create a talented and diverse community in each freshman class. Their methods go beyond formulas. They look for a variety of things but they basically want students who are really "something special" when they look at the whole picture.
