I know that MIT values a candidate’s personality and character traits and what they can do for the community more than anything else. But, I also know that they want someone that is academically qualified for MIT and who can handle MIT’s coursework. I’m worried about my academic qualifications. My ACT is a 35 and I have a 790 Math 2 and 730 chemistry sat 2. But my gpa is a 93.86 ( which is actually around the top 15-10% of my school and my school does unweighted gpa) while the average MIT applicant has a 96 gpa. I have taken 11 ap classes, but this year I have a 87 in a post ap math class, 89 in ap physics 2, and a 89 in ap economics (micro and macro combined). I also got a few 80s in the past but I brought it up to 90s. Since MIT is a stem school, I’m worried a bit worried about how they would take my math and science scores
depends on every case. lots of variables. holistic review. etc. in general terms:
good grades in hard classes especially in math/science
SAT scores where the first sig digit is a 7 or ACT scores where it is a 3 (on each section, esp. math/science)
@MITChris How about AP scores? Do those factor in as well?
@VenomBuds I didn’t report AP scores and I got in
@fantasyreader @MITChris Ok, good to know.
