We just got notification that our son scored well enough to MAYBE be a national merit semi-finalist, to be decided next September. This whole thing is confusing. If you do not make national merit semi-finalist, what is the use? They see your score anyway, so where does one go from here?
PSAT scores do not get sent to schools so they don’t see your scores. You can list “Commended National Merit” on the national award section of college and scholarship applications. How much this adds to the application depends on the institution but unless you have other national awards, something looks better than nothing.
