What does "recommended" really mean...

I am finishing up my Stanford application and trying to decide whether or not to include my SAT II scores. I haven't sent them my SAT, only ACT. My II scores are a 720 history and a 650 lit, which are kind of low. I didn't know if it would be bad to ignore their "recommendation" and not send them, or how much of a negative impact they could have.

Is anyone else in a similar situation or can offer any advice?

Thanks guy!

for Stanford, recommended=REQUIRED, because it's so competitive. so yes, send them. they are not terrible.

Recommended means you are at a disadvantage if you don't send them. However, given these scores, if you have a 35 plus ACT, I would not send them.

720 is well fine, and 650 isn't going to hurt you. Send them.

alright, even if my SAT is a 2050 and this allows them to see that? or is that not that big of a deal?

What is your ACT score anyway?

31... my highest composite is a 32. on one test i had a 31 composite, with a low reading. i took it again and all my scores went down except my reading which was a 34. i wasnt sure if i should submit both since most scores went down. is there a big difference between a 31 and 32 or is it more of a range thing?

There is a lot of misinformation floating around these threads. Look at the percentage of any score and realize that Stanford students typically fall in the top 1-5% on any test.
