I was accepted to Stanford, how much better are my chances for HYP? I especially want to know about Princeton.

Your acceptance at Stanford means you have qualifications to get into at least one high-end school, but the results at one school will have no direct effect on the decisions by the others. For example I know a kid who got in at Stanford and Harvard, was rejected by Yale, and waitlisted by Princeton. So what did the Stanford acceptance mean in this case?

I know people who got into Stanford, but could not get into Yale or Harvard. It really depends on what each university is looking for each year.

For any of the top schools, even for the most qualified applicants, it's basically a craps shoot. If you list the colleges in order of selectivity, there are plenty of people who essentially leap-frog down the list in their acceptances.

^In case that 1am-analogy didn't make sense, I mean to say that a lot of people will get into school #1 in selectivity but not #2, #3 but not #4, #5 but not #6, etc.

i think the OP is wondering if he could like call Harvard and say "hey, stanford accepted me so you know i'm good"

It doesn't mean anything except that you're accepted to stanford, congrats.

^ lol more like "Yo Harvard, the guys on the West coast think I'm coo, you think I'm coo too?

Are you not happy with Stanford? Did you just apply to Stanford because HP stopped ED and you just wanted to see if you could get in? I know soooo many people who got deferred/rejected and would have picked up stanford in a heartbeat...

congrats though

It means you're probably quality stuff.

LOL: It's funny how many posts are requests to restate the obvious. To the OP: what do YOU think being accepted at S (congrats BTW) means? Do you think P colludes w/S? Do you think P accepts similar types of students?

If you take some time and can answer the questions I've posed, I'm sure you can arrive at a decent answer -- just like the other posters are giving to you.

(and I'm assuming you're not culling KUDOS for your S acceptance).

Good luck next year.
