Does it mean to take as many AP's as possible?

It depends on the school and the GC. A couple of months ago I emailed the question to my kids’ GC. She replied that for her to check the box for “most rigorous”, the student needed to have taken “mostly AP” classes. I asked if “mostly” mean a majority, as in at least 5 a year. She replied that no, it wasn’t that precise, that’s there’s no precise number of classes or type of classes.

Isn’t that great? To put kids in a position where they never know if their efforts are “enough”?

I hope your school has a better policy than ours!

Not necessarily. It depends on what is “normal” and above average for your school. Your guidance/college counselor is the one who ultimately determines. At some schools, it may be many AP and honors classes. At others, it may be a few AP courses. It doesn’t have to be as many as possible (though if others at your school do take as many as possible, that may be the case).
