What does the "personal application" mean?

So Tulane sent me a "personal application" a couple months ago and I guess I'm thinking about applying there...

SOo does that mean that it's most likely they will accept me or nothing at all?

Thanks

From my experience, I think it means they will accept you. I wasn't originally thinking of applying to Tulane. But, I kept getting the e-mails! My parents encouraged me to apply and just see what they may offer me. Amazing.... got invitation to Honors and 24K. So now... it is in the running for me for sure. :)

I think the deadline has passed a long ass time ago for that app.

They give you a "deadline" just to get you to apply earlier. First the deadline was November 1st, then November 15th, then December 1st... etc. I applied in mid-December with it. I'm guessing they've extended it until January 15th, their regular deadline. They might even extend it past then.

The "personal application" is the ONLY online application Tulane provides, as far as I can tell. It's emailed to the SAT scores that Tulane buys from the College Board thru the Student Search Service. They will set a cutoff and buy the names of most students above that, and email those who they can get an email address for.

However, regardless of your scores, it's now free for all to apply, you can now use any essay, and admission decisions are rolling for all students, with the last possible deadline for consideration Jan 15 (which they will likely extend).

The fact that they emailed you means your SAT score is high enough to be admitted as long as you have acceptable grades and aren't socially challenged. If you have higher grades and good ECs, you could get a scholarship.

But you are still considered for admission and scholarships if you don't get the email--but the fact that test scores are the most important factor for scholarships means that if don't get an email it means you probably won't be getting any merit money.

If I remember right (it's been about four years now), the personal application is a fast-track application, generally meaning that they like you and your odds or getting in are very high. I did the personal application, and I too didn't send it in until after the Nov. 15th deadline, and I still was accepted.
