I sent away my application to a private military college about two weeks ago and just received a letter in the mail from the admissions dept. yesterday asking me to retake the SAT/ACT. It wasn't a denial letter but does this mean that Im in consideration or they want to see a better score? I took both the SAT and the ACT and my ACT scores were better. I submitted my ACT scores and they were in the range of what most people scored who got accepted. This letter really was a punch in the stomach...Any advice?

Call and ask to speak to someone in admissions for clarification. If you know what their concern is, you will be better able to address it. If they can’t provide any other information, you will be no worse off than you are now, as long as you are polite and convey that you want to assure them of your interest - especially since a retake means they probably won’t get the results for some time.

If they don’t provide me with any information, should I just retake the ACT and have it directly sent to the school?

If they dont provide you any information, frankly they are not doing their job, and you should seriously wonder what going there for 4 years would be like with that sort of indifference. Let us know what they say. Good luck!

Haha thanks gnw. I just wasn’t expecting that kind of letter to come so quick. I was pretty confident that an acceptance letter would be in the mail box instead of that.
