I called UMich to check my application status during my lunch period (ha) and the lady said my application was complete November 18th, which I recall as being correct, and then said that they reviewed it on December 2nd, and that I would get my results in 12-14 weeks? Is that kinda long?? Do they say different time intervals each time? or was this for a specific purpose? Because normally they say 8-10 weeks after your confirmed date, but this time she told me when it was reviewed, anyone see anything in this?? Alexandre maybe? LOL Anything would be appreciated

I contacted UMich thru live help.... I sent my app on 17th Nov and it was completed late nov. In mid december, I was told it would take 8-10 weeks. Last week,
I contacted my UMich admission counselor and she told me it would take 10-12 weeks from now. I found it wierd........

that's actaully just couple of months, like 3, which isn't bad considering it's only Jan. It's typical to get decisions in early April.

I sent all of my application materials in by 10/24. THey deemed my application complete mid-November and said that approximately 12-16 weeks, or 3-4 months from the day your application is complete to expect a decision unless you're deferred etc.

I was a nov 18th batch, and i got word on dec 22nd... so that is odd.

Don't talk to me man. I do not consort with Trojans! LOL Seriously, the university admissions process is fickle and completely random. I would say that if they starting reviewing your application in early December, you will hear back by mid Feb (give or take 3 weeks). There is a two week slow-down period between December 20 and January 5.

In prior years, the earlier estimate was correct, so that's what they were telling students earlier this fall. Now, it's become obvious that for most students, the delay between evaluation and notification will be longer. Thus, they are giving people a longer estimate.

ok but if they read it on December 2nd, and today is January 11th, why is the decision not being physically mailed? dont they make decisions on the spot after the reader(s) get done?

There are at least two people reviewing your application, a reader and an adcom. If they both agree that you are a clear admit (or a clear reject), you will get your reply sooner. If they don't, it will go to the next level of review (I understand that there is also a 3rd level).

No, they don't always make an admit/deny/defer decision right after evaluation. U-M frequently assesses how the admissions cycle is going (how many apps? What type of quality? How many deposits already?) and makes a decision on how many people to admit, whether to defer some applicants, or hold them over for another week or more... So after your application is evaluated, it will very likely be held until the next time they make this sort of decision.
