I'm starting to put together my list of reaches, matches, and safeties, and I'm assuming other rising seniors are too. If you've put together or begun to put together a list, here's the place to post it! You may what to say what you're looking for.

I want a medium sized school with lots of school spirit and a beautiful, traditional campus in a suburban or urban setting. I want to get out of California and I'm particularly interested in the South, but I'm open to everywhere.

REACH:
Duke
Brown
Tufts
University of Virginia

MATCH:
Vanderbilt
Wake Forest
University of Richmond
Boston College
Emory

SAFETY:
Furman University
University of Puget Sound
University of San Diego
University of California - Santa Barbara

I'm from New York City so I'm looking for an urban or suburban campus with a McDonalds within walking distance and a nice fashion district to shop in (Yale is kind of a dissapointment in these aspects lol). I really want a medium-sized community feel with lots of school spirit and weird, quirky traditions. I'm interested in business.

REACHES:
Yale University
University of Pennsylvania - The Wharton School
Duke University
Cornell University

MATCHES:
New York University
Syracuse University
Northeastern University
Bentley College

I've grown up in mid-sized towns all of my life, and so I would love to be in a big city for my college years. Lots of spirit, passionate student body, good academics, nothing extraordinary, as I am a average student. I'm only open to the Northeast, basically (as far up as Mass., as far down as Virginia, as far out as mid Penn):

Tufts is a match, not a reach. You also might look into adding Penn or Dartmouth if you like Duke and Brown. I have seen many people get burned by not having enough reaches, we were just talking about this on another thread. 9/10 times I have seen that people wish they applied to a couple more schools, make the real decisions once you actually get in.

Banana - Add Harvard and Brown. There is a HUGE gap between your lowest reach (Cornell) and your highest match (NYU). Maybe a place like Northwestern or Emory would help bridge that gap. Also Bentley, Syracuse, and Northeastern are safeties if you are aiming for places like Duke. Stats would help of course.

Koala, add Dartmouth. Its Cornell, Princeton, Duke, Swarthmore all in one and you will be happy to have it come decision time as an option if you care to dig deeper.

My D is looking for a small LAC, small classes, interaction with profs. opportunities for research. Interested in majoring in Bio & taking foreign languages - Spanish, French, Japanese and definitely wants to study abroad. List so far:

Reaches:
Dartmouth
Middlebury
Williams
Wellesley (maybe)

I'd like to attend a small/medium engineering college in a large city. Do my assignments (reach/match/safety) seem appropriate?

Reaches
California Institute of Technology
Harvard College
Harvey Mudd College
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Princeton University
Stanford University
University of Pennsylvania

Matches
Carnegie Mellon University
University of California: Berkeley
University of Miami

Safeties
Purdue University
University of Washington

Looking for a small liberal arts college in the northeast that offers initial certification in secondary education. Quick stats: Rank 1/120 GPA: 4.0 (uw) SAT: 2140 My (hopefully final) list: Suggestions anyone?

thumper - how come your D has no reaches? On a side note, my cousin goes to the University of San Diego and LOOOOOOVEEESSSS IT. The campus is so beautiful and you can walk to the beach.

slipper - I appreciate you think I'm smart enough to have Tufts as a match, but I'm not certain I agree. :/ I got a 2080 on my SAT I (610M 670V 800W), and my unweighted GPA is a 3.9 (my school doesn't rank). I could go on but basically I think that Tufts, which accepts only 20-something% of applicants, is a reach for me. All of the schools in my match category except 33% and up, and those n my safeties except around 50% and up.

momobsessed - please tell your daughter to consider WAKE FOREST! It has lots of study abroad options, small classes, a LAC feel, a beatiful campus, tons of southern charm, and plently of opportunities for undergraduate research.

Semiserious - thanks for the suggestion of Wake Forest. My D doesn't want to go more than 5-6 hours from home.

imacrazyscientist - I'm sure you must realize from other postings that that list cannot be considered safeties, no matter how good your credentials are.
