What does your status page say? 2.0

well i got the status change on the 21st but i never got the updated little bar that you guys got today. do you think its a good thing and means i'm not missing any items or should i be worried? ahhh

^^^ Same here. (Marshall)

The link from the status page doesn't take me anywhere... it says unable to process. I registered for Oasis and the Admissions Management thing says "No data could be found for you in our Document Management System database." So I think at this point all this stuff is really preliminary. I don't know what documents I could be missing so I think it's a matter of waiting. I just wish this forum would let us search threads from back in January of last year so we could see how things turned out for them. I found some people that said their status changed to review in late January and they didn't get accepted until March... that would be unfortunate.

socalgal you got the new link or yours didnt change?

No new link. The "being reviewed" one on 1/21 was the last change.

I got the new link today. This thread is quite amusing; we're all so anxious to hear back and want to take everything as a sign that we've been accepted for scholarship interviews.

Wait a second, are ALL talking about this message:

"Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2009)
We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application."

or is there another "reviewing your application" message i'm not sure about?

And I'm a transfer student, so..you think they would be reviewing my application SO soon? I'm a little nervous as to if this is a good thing or a bad thing... :(

It's such a primal instinct.... with a process as ridiculous as the USC decision system we have to do something to keep ourselves from going crazy. Hopefully we can all look back on this next year when the 2014ers are freaking out and know it all worked out in the end.

This is the review message everyone is talking about:

"Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by April 1. If for some reason you don't receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning April 11th."

Alright, I guess for transfer students it's different? I don't know what the difference between my status and your status is if their both under review, haha.

As for the 2014ers, I can't WAIT until they start freaking out. :) itll make me remember the "old days".

This should clear things up:

If I remember correctly, this is the order of the status notifications:

We have received and are currently reviewing.......meaning they've received your stuff.
We have completed a preliminary review........meaning they've gone through your app/recs/scores etc to make sure everything's there (if not they will contact you)
Your app is being reviewed by the admissions committee.......meaning that the adcom is actually in the process of assessing your app.
Your application has been acted upon......meaning a decision has been made.
(wording might be a bit off)

[End Quote]

The word review comes up a lot... it's the specifics that matter... or don't matter... who knows.

hmm well now i'm a little worried because i didn't get the new link. could it have anything to do with people whose midyears they are still waiting for?

Mine has a link that says "Click here to submit midyear report" or something along that lines and when I click it, it takes me to the online submission for midyear grades.
Is this a good or bad sign? Does it mean that I'm "borderline"? =/
Does anyone else have it?

Oh, and argh I want to submit it like now, but semester barely finished and I have yet to receive my grades. =/

I think the link for midyear reports is voluntary. I've had it since the beginning I think. I'm pretty sure if they want your midyear reports they give a formal request by mail but I could be wrong. Also I don't think they ask for midyear reports now... last year they started requesting them around the first week of February.

^^ Qzar is correct.... I believe the "submit mid-year grades online" thing has been around since January 1st at least... its not an update, its just an option they allow after a certain date because students may be receiving their mid-year grades soon. Also, I'm pretty sure they will formally request your mid-year grades if you are border-line acceptance. If you are even border-line scholarship they will not need to see your mid-years most likely.

And for the record: I'm still in preliminary review (since 11/26/08) and there are other students in Florida who have gotten the change so the regional theory is incorrect. However I find that the whole status check system towards predicting if you are getting early acceptance may be a bit off... considering that the first early acceptance/scholarship information was sent out last year on the 23rd or so, meaning that... if the dates are anywhere close to last year's... the committee would have to decide on all 500 or so possible scholarship candidates in less than 2 days... hmmm... just seems a bit strange. If only there was this exact thread from last year where we could see what actually wound up happening with these status updates.

Don't want to add to the anxious misery, but last year my S (applied to SCA) never got the updated status at all. No changes. Nada. And he did get the early admission packet and the Trustee. So hang in there.

I'm not privy to any information, but maybe the regional officers do a review of all their students' apps during the prelim stage and then make recommendations on which apps deserve a better look for scholarship consideration. Then the committee as a whole assesses them and makes its decisions. But whether the "being reviewed by the adcom" actually means this, at this stage, is anyone's guess.
Then maybe they have a different system entirely, and "being reviewed" at this stage could apply to any application regardless of an earlier acceptance or not.

^ well, there you go (re: madbean's comment). You just never know about these status notifications!

who wants to gather up some pitch forks and torches and charge an angry mob at the admissions office until we get an answer asap!? :D haha

that'd be a funny thought now

I received the status change on the 21st and didn't get a letter today but I'm keeping my hopes up. I did not get the new link, though.

Did anyone that got the link not get the letter?

Thanks

uh yeah, bmwguy.

I have "Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by April 1. If for some reason you don't receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning April 11th." from jan 21st, but no letter to speak of

....yet
