i still have to mail my w-2 and tax forms.. does anyone know if i could fax it instead?

and did everyone mail in their mid year report?

They "misplaced" my SAT and SAT II scores because I had them sent as early as June and I had to send them again which they received only in mid-February. I don't have the blank line yet though it says "Folder Pulled Committee Read" on Jan 19th itself. Does anyone have any thoughts on how I may infer the situation?

I had my school fax my transcript and the other stuff they were supposed to send and Carnegie ended up not getting. The status was already updated by the time I got home:

AHHH! Where is my high school transcript? I called and they said they received it, and yet they said the received two midyears.

qaz, i wouldn't worry about the transcript. In our case the midyears include everything the transcript had on it but include the first semester of 09 as well. If they said they have the transcript, I'm sure they do. It's possible that the midyear was sent as the transcript twice (just depends on when they had miyear grades done).

School report is basically your counselor describing what your school is like.

BIG NEWS:

I called CMU Admissions, and this is what I was told regarding the blank line:

The blank line signifies the date that the school wrote the initial decision letter. That letter now sits on file and will be sent when the decision letters are supposed to be mailed out.

I asked about why they were able to write my letter before recieving my mid-year report, and they said that they reviewed the reports, and can go back at any time to modify the decision. Once the decision letters are mailed (March 20th and up), that bit will become populated with a message stating the decision letter was made.

However, I was rather amused by the call, because the first woman who picked up had to put me on hold for several minutes to speak with her supervisor to find out what to say. And then she reconnected, started telling me something, and then I heard the advisor yank the phone away from her to explain it to me herself. I could tell she wasn't happy that this topic was being brought up... ;)

great news Nox! thanks for calling.

I'm actually rather suprised that after 2 years of all this postulating, nobody bothered to call and find out for themselves. Seemed to be the simplest (and most reliable) solution to me! ;)

Much more so than guessing at least! And now I can finally have some peace of mind! (Or at least, go back a bit from the insanity that college applications have thrown onto me)

an early decision (feb. 16) can mean an automatic A, 2 A's after 2 readers, Automatic R, or else it would have gone to committee.

DS has a blank line in his Where Am I In The Process on February 12. Again this was before mid-year grades were received. It was Committee Read on 30 December and there are other entries about his interview, teacher recs, etc. He also has an entry on February 16 under Admission Documents Sent that says MSC Call #1. However, we did not receive a call. Very interesting. CMU is his #1 choice and probably will be the last of all of the colleges to respond to him. He may be waiting until the bitter end. If anyone knows what MSC Call #1 means, please post. Thanks.

what do you mean? automatic A, 2 A's ...

I told yall.

@confused01. automatic A = automatic acceptance, 2 A's = 2 acceptances after 2 readers, automatic R = automatic rejection

@va_catlover: MSC Call stands for "Making Student Connections" Call and they just call you to see if you have any questions about the admissions process. I believe they have called twice and I haven't been home to answer either time, I don't think it matters all that much.

I don't have a blank line yet...I don't know whether that is a good or bad thing. At least I haven't been rejected yet? :)

my folder hasn't even been pulled... am I in trouble or anything? what number should I call to ask (if I should even..)
thanks

this is what mine says...

i'm a little confused as to why they wrote "high school transcript" a second time in February. Do you guys think they have that confused with my mid-year report which supposedly came during that time? Does carnegie mellon notify you if your mid-year is not there yet?

now i won't even look
