What does your Where Am I In the Process say?

@ineo42: Mine hasn't been pulled either. I'm not planning on calling them, they have almost another month to mail me a decision and that is plenty of time for them to decide. But it's up to you, of course. I wouldn't freak out just yet though.

hmm, do they really do stuff like "automatic acceptances" / "automatic rejections"? My blank line appeared on one of, if not the earliest dates mentioned so far on CC... but I was thinking that had more to do with me just getting my common app in around early december and then midyear reports/recs right at the start of the new year.

I sure hope they didn't just toss my file in the trash after one look through o_O

I think my blank line was the most recent - 2/27.
It just appeared today, but that was the date my school resent the transcript and counselor recommendation. Depending on what they saw there, I'm guessing it was good enough to push me over the fence - whether it was to the side of acceptances, or rejections, I'll have to wait to find out. :(

I have another question regarding that...if the blank line appeared, do I still have to worry about material they didn't receive yet? Or am I basically done with this school regarding the application?

There was no activity since Jan 30th...and the last thing was "Folder Pulled Committee Read"

i just got a blank line on 2/27
it wasnt there before, and the last time i checked was probably sometime after 2/27

I think that they do the blank line in bunches, because from what I saw, a lot were sent like Feb 18-19 and then Feb. 27.

So, hopefully it's not something bad.

Wow. Mine just updated again saying that they received my transcript and school report form (by the mail) on March 2.

no activities since january :/

no blank lines either! gah, that means I still stand a chance?

For all those still getting worried about this silly little blank line... I really don't think it matters whether or not you have one! If you have one, it means a decision was made, but it might be a good one, it might be a bad one. And if you don't have one, then they might have just taken some time in getting to your application. After all, since the decisions aren't due until late-march/early-april, they don't -have- to have made a decision yet. I mean, I don't think it'll really matter much to most people at the moment if there is one or not. Besides, getting all worried about this stuff isn't good for your physical and mental health. I'd say, just wait a few more weeks. Your decision is bound to come in soon. :) No sense fretting over something that won't be revealed for a while anyways.

My folder hasn't been pulled. Is that a problem?

Goodluck88, you may want to call the CMU admissions office. You may just be one of the last applications they got around to reading. Since the decisions aren't due for a little bit longer, you may have just been WAAAAY at the end of the list. But still, it may be good to call them. That's what the admissions office is there for, after all. To make sure everything's working properly for the students and the school. :)

Thanks Nox Tempest. It's odd because I submitted my application in the beginning of December.

I hope things have changed for you but last year and years past a blank line was anything but positive - where the blank line fell may have been a clue as to where you were as far as the wait list - I hope things are not the same this year.

haha dpmom, that comment is going to increase the anxiety of everyone (excluding those without a blank line) here sooo much. As I mentioned in another thread, though, I simply cannot fathom that they would know in mid-february, a full month before all the applications have gone to committee, that certain applicants should be placed on the wait-list.

ignore dpmom.

last years thread - I really do hope things have changed.

my blank line, march 03!! =D hmm.. i hope its not a rejection =[

dpmom, i think the reason that that thread makes it look so bad is that in the final pages, all of the posts are dated 3/27-3/30.. which means that those kids were still waiting around for the second wave of decisions that turned out to be mostly (if not all) waitlist/rejects. The kids with blank lines who were accepted stopped following that thread after the first wave of decisions

Haha bco09, I've been following these topics for the past couple of days avidly, and I totally get what you're saying. I got a blank line the same day as you, and I heard from friends who applied last year that getting the line early is good. In my opinion, it makes sense to accept or reject people early in the process either because they were really outstanding or really not up-to-par. Then, the second round (late March) of blank lines is for people who they weren't absolutely sure about, but are still deciding on.
