I saw this kind of thread in another college forum, so I'm kinda of curious (btw, I'm a SCEAr applicant this year, so this isn't meant to bash at Stanford) but what are the things that current students or even prospective students dislike about Stanford.

the football team could be better.

But we beat USC, come on that"s great all in itself. :)

I'm afraid to use that word "we" FarrCT, until "we" are accepted lol.

delayed acknowledgement of received material.... :(

Hmm...well I guess the party scene could be better. Also, if it were in a big city like NYC, that'd be really cool. But, then again, it just wouldn't be Stanford then, would it?

By the way, this thread will be one of my first stops after I get rejected SCEA haha...

One thing I never liked about Stanford is its location. It's isolated from civilization, the closest town is an expensive, preppy suburb with no semblance to a college town, and the closest cities are still not that close at all (San Jose and San Francisco). Some may like this suburban feel, but I don't.

I don't like the fact that Stanford will probably reject me. Other that that I really can't find many faults!

The people are amazing, and opportunities are everywhere, due to the specific location.

At the same time, Palo Alto is nice. But it isn't a college town. It's a horrible college town.

And maybe it's just me, but the campus looks like an overgrown taco bell. Some people like it.

this former student of my high school (who everyone loves) goes there so therefore i am so not going to apply there!!

I agree with this comment. Sure the campus is pretty, but the architecture is just plain boring.

I meant to say it's a "horrible college town", although I don't like the campus either.

And I'm glad someone agrees with me. I know it's subjective, but even the viewbook was dull.

I think the campus is beautiful >_>

im thinking some people are envious and throw these harsh "taco bell"comments probably because they are embittered by their chances of getting in.

so what's wrong with taco bell :) I think Taco bells look great

I love Spanish architecture.

lol. I know how you feel FredFredBurger, so anxious for SCEA results but hopefully everything works out.
Btw, I love how the only bad thing about Stanford is actually a plus and its not like those dark, gloomy east coast campuses. Cough...Yale...Cough. lol. jk. Don't need to bash on other schools.

i love the style of stanford's campus! it completely feels like California - which is a good thing to me!!

What's wrong with Taco Bell. I love the place and Stanford!

Oh yes, we're bitter, so we'll bash things like architecture while also claiming to love the school. Right.

It's not so much the Taco Bell-ness. The Spanish-mission style is pretty. But that's basically all the campus is -- sandstone buildings with red tiles on top. It'd be nice to see some variance.
