What Dorm Are You in at Exeter?

PA-C your son is my daughter’s neighbor - she’s in Bancroft, next to Wentworth, she always talks about “the guys from Wentworth.” :)

i was placed in lamont hall, my room has a letter, not a number though, does that mean anything?

I got a single in Lamont  but on mine I got a number not a letter.

@PA-C no I’m in a single. I believe Cilley is all singles.

lamont double :)

I still didn’t get mine!!! O NO!!

Cecil - Thanks that would be great if your son has the energy after working all day, we would love to hear what he has to say about it. Looking through old posts, it sounds like a really great dorm. Some said the rooms were small, but as I told my son, that’s less to clean!

Do you know if roommates are always from the same class? Do they sometimes mix a freshman with a lower?

Im in merrill hall!!!

If you’re in lamont, and you got a letter instead of a number, that means your room is in the basement. I’ve heard they’re spacious, but there are certain issues about bugs. haha

@ exetergirl
We’re neighbors then! I’m in Wheelwright.

uh ohh, bugs!! you wouldn’t know if there are windows in the basement rooms?

hey neighbor. would you happen to know if the dorms in merrill are carpeted?

hi. I am a senior/proctor in Peabody and I would be happy to answer any questions that parents or students might have about dorm life.

hi…so do you know if the rooms in merrill are carpeted?

Mi Michael 1991 - Thanks for offering information. My son is an incoming student assigned to Peabody Hall. We are so excited for him! I have a few questions - Do people generally stay in the same dorms for their entire time at Exeter or do you change every year? What about roommates - do they switch every year? Do they mix freshmen (woops - I mean Preps) with older kids? Do the boys generally get along well with all kinds of different kids? - Do you ever have a kid that just doesn’t fit in and if you do, how do you handle it? Sorry to have so many questions - Thanks for your time!

I think they are some carpeted rooms but it depends on the floor.

Peabody massachussetts little league team is currently in the little league world series :D. Not sure if that’s any helpful to you.

Yes for the most part, there are a few cases of students moving but it is not very common.Usually you have a roommate your prep and/or lower year and your roommate may change from year to year unless you request to be roomed together the next year. Yes in dorms there is a pretty good mix of all classes, however in some houses it may be all upperclassmen. Yes, part of the learning experience is learning about and appreciating diversity. There have been very few instances to my knowledge of students mistreating others because of differences, intolerance is highly frowned upon. There was one student last year who had trouble connecting to the other students, the most we could do was encourage him to be more social and provide him with support in case he needed it.
