What ECs for an English/philosophy student?

<p>Okay, I'm starting my junior year in hs. My academics are on track for a good college application except for one thing: ECs. Basically, by the end of junior year I should have 500 hours of volunteering plus a part time job, and NHS. That's it.</p>

<p>What ECs should I take to show an interest in English, philosophy, and journalism, my three strongest areas? There are no related clubs at my school (besides creative writing) and my school paper is a joke. Also, there are no internships at the local paper. What can I do?</p>

<p>Volunteer for your school paper, use your talents to make it less of a joke, and write your college essay about how and why you were successful in that endeavor. You’ll not only enhance your college app, you’ll give something back to the community in the process.</p>
