what ECs to do in summer? summer school, course etc...

what kind of ECs will appeal to Stanford more for example?

i am planning to apply for High School Summer College , is it good decision?

Get a job and learn about the working world.

@TomSrOfBoston thank you for suggestion, however what do you mean in LEARNING ABOUT THE WORKING WORLD?

Your question is precisely what he means, probably.

He’s saying: get some real life experience really actually working. It’s rather eye opening. Basically if you have to ask what it means to work then you never have done so.

Any job will teach you invaluable skills that you will use throughout your life, whether it’s scooping ice cream or cleaning hotel rooms or painting houses.

This would depend on your grade level. Are you a sophomore, junior, or a senior?

Cancer research, travel to a third world country so you can talk about it in your essays

Assuming your family doesn’t need you to work, then you are free to do whatever interests you.

@koreanstudent im senior, but im taking gap year. and i have top notch grades (highschool 9.6 out of 10) but what does it have to do with ECs?

The best summer ECs are the ones that cost little/no money.

-Free summer programs sponsored by colleges/companies (these are usually hard to get into)
-Working a job
-Volunteering

There is no right answer. If you look at Stanford’s students, they all did not do the same thing over their summers.

@yikesyikesyikes im thinking of applying to stanford summer school program = D
