Does anyone know how much ones chances might be improved if he can pay $27k and asks for only 20k as finaid.

Either you need aid or you don't. It doesnt matter how much you need

what about no aid at all?

it's a "need-blind" admission process
whether you need it or not, it wont factor into your chances

for internationals it aind need blind.

No, I don't think Financial Aid is taken into account for internationals at Stanford. I specifically checked up on it in my application.

well then you need to look into it further. Stanford is not need-blind to int'l, and only the top applicants will recieve fin aid packages

yes dooit is absolutely right and infact I would be pretty sure too considering the fact that I am an international applicant.

Your chances won't be improved at all. Half of Stanford's undergrads can afford to pay the entire $47k bill including tuition and living expenses.

whered u find that out?

Common Data Set: http://www.stanford.edu/home/statistics/#financial.
Out of 6654 students, 3750 applied for financial aid and 3208 were determined to have financial need. That means 44% didn't bother applying and 8% more did not have financial need. This means that the median household income of Stanford is around $200k.

Dude but I am talking abt in between finaid candidates and that too international finaid candidates will Stanford take a guy who is equally good and can pay some part or will they be totally unconcerned abt the fact of how much one can pay...which I think is unlikely since they tell us to write how much we can contribute.

Are there any stats on how many internationals pay full out of the total international population at Stanford?

well about 75-80% of them pay for their education. Stanford gives finaid to very very few applicants.

yep. stanford is NOT need-blind to internationals.
