My cumulative GPA over 3 years is 94 even, but I have about a 98.5 this year even with 2 AP classes (all my school's offering or I'd take 3-4). I have:

AP English: 95 (105 weighted)
AP Calculus: 84 (94 weighted)
Economics: 99
Church History: 101
Journalism:100
Yearbook: 98
Desktop Publishing: 92

I took the only 2 senior AP courses offered, gave my best on my 2 other required credits (social studies and Bible), and loaded up on easy electives, getting near perfect marks in all of them except Desktop, where the teacher doens;t really grade objectively.

If I finish the 1st semester with these grades, will it help or hurt or not affect my admissions in January considering I have a 94 over 3 years. These grades are significantly better than my Junior year, but my schedule was harder with AP English, Honors Chemistry, Honrs Pre-Cal, French II, Human Geography, Bible Doctrine, and Computer Applications.
