What Electives & EC's do Ivy Leagues like?

Hi! I’m an incoming 9th grader and I was wondering what EC’s AND electives I should take starting next year.

The classes I know I am taking next year are:
Human Geography AP
Algebra 2 Honors/IB
English 1 Honors/IB
Biology (there is no honors, AP, or IB available, regular biology is the highest science class you can take as a 9th grader at my school)
Spanish 2 (planning on taking spanish all four years of high school, ending with Spanish 5 in the 12th grade)
Phys Ed

I need one more elective to take (7 classes) and I have no clue on which one to take. I am either doing Orchestra or Journalism (journalism leads up to yearbook… yearbook is only avail grades 10-12. So which one would look best for me? If I take orchestra, I will obviously take it all four years of high school. If I take journalism/yearbook, I will take it all four years of high school.

Will taking the same electives (Spanish & Journalism/Yearbook) all four years of high school look bad on applications? Most people I know who are already in high school have practically taken a different elective every semester.

Another question is what EC’s look strong for an Ivy League. I am VERY determined to get into an Ivy League and I will do anything I can do to increase my chances. If I take yearbook, I will most likely have the highest leadership role. Please list any strong EC’s for Ivies.

Thanks for your input!

Its not really a matter of how strong each elective is. Its more sticking with an elective and showing your into and gaining leadership positions in the elective/ EC that really matters. Pick a few, (more the better) activites and really get involved with them. Thats my take on it.
