Off the top of my head, Brown University has made a big commitment to helping URM/First-gen students the chance to study there.
LACs in the Northeast are, generally speaking, very whitewashed and are trying to diversify; they value URMs veru much. However, several black and hispanic friends I have noted that at their LACs (Bowdoin, Bates, and Middlebury) they feel very “different”, and the lack of diversity is evident on campus. Even if they are not treated in a directly hostile manner, they do feel the “microaggressions” that a URM is going to inevitably face in an overwhelmingly white school (people touching their hair without asking, hearing “you’re very well spoken for a black person”, people making off-color or racist jokes, etc). I think this is something to keep in mind when you consider schools schools that value URMs a lot- visits can be helpful in this regard so you can get a feel for the campus.
