Hi, I am a sophomore right now, but so many of my classmates are stressed about college and I feel that my current grades and extracurricular activities are not enough to get me to the colleges I want to go to. I have a weighted GPA of 4.5722, I run varsity track, I am a geometry tutor, I am on the school newspaper, and I have awards in foreign language contests. I’m working so hard right now, but cannot relax because I feel that everyone else is doing better than me. My list of colleges that I am interested in applying to include:
Georgetown
UNC Chapel Hill
Boston College
Tufts
Amherst
Trinity
Providence College
Dartmouth
Cornell
NYU
Syracuse
For anyone that has been accepted to these schools how did you do it? What did your high school transcripts and college applications include?
Keep that GPA, do well on your SAT and you’ll have some good choices. But…high school should be fun too! Stop worrying about what your classmates are doing. Find balance. That’s key. You don’t have to go to Amherst, Cornell or Dartmouth, or any other top 20 school, to succeed in life. Do what you like, do them well, and good things will happen!
@NEPatsGirl - this right here. OP, you have great stats and will probably get into at least one of these schools on your list. It’s not just the school you go to - it’s what you do when you get there. For every successful person you hear about who went to a top-notch school, there are plenty who (if they did even go to college) went to a less-recognized school and excelled. Take a deep breath - there are no guarantees in life. The only thing in your control is your drive, and you seem to have that in spades.
