I had a BA in English and went on to become a newspaper reporter. Other English major friends of mine became lawyers, teachers, public relations professionals and technical writers, among other things. It's a bit silly to think that a degree in musical theater or drama translates ONLY into being prepared for work on the stage. As one of my D's acting teachers says (only half in jest!), actors make great waiters, salespeople, PR people, etc. They know how to speak, have poise and can take direction, as well as function under stress. Most people in any business would need those qualities and skills.
