Im an incoming freshmen at jhu planning on majoring in international studies and then off to a top law school hopefully. If i can get a 3.6ish gpa and a 173ish lsat, what else do i need? I was thinking of getting some leadership in a club and doing some summer volunteer work but is that it, just numbers and some leadership/comm serv? thanks

Internships are always good if for no other reason than to reaffirm that you like/enjoy studying law.

Be yourself. Do what interests you and what you believe in. Don't be a resume whore.

Law school admissions is more dependent on numbers than undergraduate admission. But joining clubs and doing volunteer work is intrisically rewarding.

If you aren't currently at a college with good/any resources how do you go about finding an internship, unpaid or paid?

Check out local law firms. I'm personally doing a collegiate law internship at a law firm in my hometown this summer.

what exactly would an internship like yours entail?

Truthfully, not much. A regular day would be mostly filing but certain interns (given a proper interest and credentials) can help prepare briefs with alongside attorneys.
