What else should I do this summer?....

Okay, here's the problem..
I'm a rising senior (class of 2013)

Summer's here, I went to a leadership program last week (best week ever)
Now I have nothing to do... (it's really depressing, please don't judge me...)
School doesn't start for 2+ months, and I don't feel like doing any college stuff (SATs/essays).... I really wish I had done some more research to attend more programs...

Any good ideas anyone?

I guess in other words, what are you guys doing this summer except for college stuff?....

Nothing ;/

You could go to your local bookstore or library and research majors you are interested in. Then after some research narrow it down to your top three majors and find people that are near you (local business, hospitals, firms, etc) and ask them if you can job shadow them and after meeting them maybe even ask if you can be their intern over the summer! Don’t give up! You want to make your summer productive!! Good luck! xx

^I agree!

Additionally, you could get a job to start saving up for some of those killer college app prices and SAT costs/score choice reports. I’m sure your parents would greatly appreciate that. (:

I’m with @Avalde4. I’m a rising senior also and I got me a part time summer job, research at a UW (for my fave major) and I 'm trying to study for the ACT. Not to mention, later on this summer I should begin on my college essays (don’t know if that’s going to happen…)

Summer is a perfect time to start something on your own or with a friends. I would recommend maybe throwing a whole bunch of parties to fundraise for specific charity causes. I see your profile says you’re in the boston area. Use twitter and try and get as many of the local execs and professors to help you out. If you can raise $10,000 + over the summer for some charity or organization, you could probably get an internship during the year and it would be a major accomplishment.

Alternatively, you could always start your own business. Boston is one of the big start up places so you have a lot of potential there.

Just do something new, original and something that represents who you are and what you love to do.

wow.
so many great ideas. I appreciate each and every one of you!!

Yeah, once I started my schools newspaper, a nutrition/recipe blog for teens, and and fundraised for the schools math club which I founded. Bottom line: summer is a great time to excell in ECs, and its A LOT of fun too! This summer im actually developing the user interface for NCMIRs neuronic mapping (unpaid internship), im sure there are some fantastic labs in Boston that you could do some stuff at!
