What essay topic did you pick and what did you discuss

<p>I need help. I wrote about my favorite quote from the sound and the fury but I'm afraid its not good enough. Can you guys give me some examples of what you wrote about.</p>

<p>For the quote one I used an epigraph and then wrote about a bunch of personal experiences that I tied together with the theme of the epigraph. I don't really have a favorite quote; I just found one, (in a quote collection online), that worked. I generally used the questions as guidelines. I would write something, and then pick which topic it best fit under. I felt it was a lot easier than trying to answer such huge questions. Good luck!</p>

<p>but seriosuly mine wasn't too serious - just be yourself, as cliche as it might sound. i love wicked, and i found a quote that i thought expressed me, so i wrote abotu it. really, i thin kthey just want you to find somethign that relates to you, and MAKE SURE you explain HOW/WHY it relates to you</p>

<p>common app (open question) - thing about how I am an asprining polymath. Less crappy than the title suggests</p>

<p>Einstein - about sailing in Maine and how it affected me</p>

<p>history - first Gulf War and how it impacted my political beliefs.</p>

<p>quote - about diversity, contrasting experiences in uruguay (where my mom's from) and rural missouri and how prejudice manifests itself in similar ways in many cultures</p>

<p>person - about my close friendship with a semi-famous afro-cuban poet and how that inspired/continues to inspire originality of thought in my own work whether it be school work or athletics or my writing</p>

<p>curiosity - about going to a performance of "the seagull" and how chekhov's works inspired me to pursue writing</p>

<p>Einstein.. about the mystery of the Chinese (Mandarin) language and why I wanted to learn it.. I'm Panamanian so I guess they found that interesting!</p>

<p>90's event - '94 genocide in rwanda tied to current genocide to darfur with a link to how speech / debate has led me to realize the importance of actions flowing from discussion.</p>

<p>Common app #1: how I overcame pessimism and became, well, optimistic... especially about learning in general. Lighthearted, a bit of self-mockery, and an <em>epiphanous</em> moment.</p>

<p>I don't even remember writing my essays. I think those memories have been suppressed--too much work in too short a time, ;)</p>

<p>Nation's Service - I talked about teaching, its powerful effects on the lives of the students, and why I feel that teaching such an important service (and what being a teacher would mean to me).</p>

<p>Curiosity- I talked about my experiences on a school trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands talking to our guides on the importance of eco-tourism in their communities and how Ecuador planned economic and commericial development at a local level though promoting eco-tourism, also addressing the instability and shakiness of changing the traditional way of life and the effort and diplomacy it takes to result in a smooth transition. </p>

<p>Big Essay- Talked about my relationship with my AP Biology Teacher, who is also a wildlife biologist who specializes in muskrat behavior: how he influenced me as my mentor, how I was inspired by his approach to research in the field, and the reciprocality of ideas in our frequent conversations.</p>

<p>Big Essay: Talked about the fact that I have never been able to distinguish my left from my right... and then compared it to my life and not knowing where I'm going in life, but learning to trust myself and all that jazz</p>

<p>Quote: "What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail"...and yes i definitely found it in a Teen Vogue lol</p>

<p>Historical Event: Matthew Shepherd story...what happend in Laramie, Wyoming...totally random I know, but my parents r really into the gay rights scene</p>
