No one turns down UCSD for UCI. Lots of people turn down UCSD for UCSB. UCSB has always been harder to get into than UCI and is a superior school.

i HATE when people say crap like that.

no one turns down ucsd and ucsb for uci? alright well i guess i broke those traditions.

is it because you got into ucsb and ucsd and not uci? ur just jealous

i think that implies that i got into ucsb. so you did get rejected from UCI?

please provide me with those statistics.

what a moron........

i agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got into UCSD and Cal and go to UCI. Didn't even apply to UCSB cause I wasn't feeling it.

Heh, heh...UCI is so overrated. All the students I've met try to make that school more than what it is. Yeah, keep dreaming UCI. The UCI medical school and its administrators have been getting away with unethical practices for the past 10 years and now CA state senators want people within UCI to be held accountable for all the medical misconduct. Just look at the crap that's been going on with Liver Transplant program and Fertility clinic....yeah real good university to attend. A lot of state funding UCI will get cut as a consequence for lack of ethics.

Oh yeah, of course someone is going to argue "but that's the med-school not the undergrad or other professional school programs". No, duh...it's also a reflection of the type of people within UCI. Just like how a person working for a company represents the company at public gatherings.

Suck it UCI students, you'll always be second class and that's not going to change anytime soon.

Ehhh UCLA Med School had a scandal about a year or two ago with selling cadavers or something, I don't really remember but there was a big investigation and it was in the newspapers--No one thinks UCLA is a bad school because of a med school scandal. These things happen sometimes and it really doesn't have anything to do with undergraduate education which is what the majority of people on this board come here to talk about. If the quality of undergraduate education really went down and people see it as worse because of a few med school people associated with the university then there should be a significant decrease in applications etc.

"Suck it UCI students, you'll always be second class and that's not going to change anytime soon."

How mature.

^i agree....

I turned down UCSD and UCI for UCSB.

However, you cannot make generalizations about "nobody turns down UCSD for UCI!" because often times it's not true.

I chose UCSB for the social life. I figure I can get the same damn undergrad education at any of the 3 schools, so why not let myself grow in a college-oriented atmosphere?

I personally like UCI over UCSB

wrong, i turned down ucsd for uci

why would you post something like this?

it is apparent that you have a personal vendetta for uci and is insecure for what ever reason about what others think about the school (or your school, obviously being ucsd or ucsb). thus, you attempt to rally others and post such a post to desperately make yourself feel better about yourself, or your school.

and because you made it relevant, i dropped it like it was hot on ucsd and ucsb to go to uci.

"What every UCI student is afraid of: UCSB is better than UCI"

Hi. I am an UCI student and I don't care if SB is better than irvine. I wouldn't say i'm afraid either. They are the same to me, but i do agree that SB is more selective than I.

If you look at the acceptance stats, UCSB and UCI are basically the same. And if you want any indication of what will happen in the future, apply what has been happening over the past few years and you will notice a trend. In the past 2 years, Freshman applications for UCI has soared by 13.6%, UCD 4.3% UCSD 5.5% and UCSB is 8.3%.
http://www.ucop.edu/news/factsheets/2006/fall+2006+app_table+3.pdf

UCI is just about to overtake UCSB to become 4th in the UC system to recieve the most applications behind UCSD, UCB and UCLA.

Another item of note, is that UCI keeps adding significantly to its student population as part of its growth plan. As that starts to level off, I would expect the acceptance rate to decrease further

Haha, the original intentions for this thread is terrible :P.

You guys take the UC system for granted. It's college, a place to get a fricken education. People choose among the UCs based on what they are given and what they like (unless they are suckers for the prestige factor). GLHF.

Oh BTW, get off my school (UCI). =)
Looking forward to attend this fall.

Personally, i would go to UCI over SB. Irvine has a better reputation and the campus looks way nicer than SB (SB has old buildings and ugly campus, however the campus is on the beach and thats pretty nice).

^^^By the way, i am not a UCI student.

"What every UCI student is afraid of: UCSB is better than UCI"

It's more than just UCI students, it is every other student in the world bc they know that UCSB is the best school ever!!!!!!

....Yadidimean....
