what exactly can colleges find out from your current college when transferring...suspended

hi friends!
i am currently enrolled in college (sophomore) but was suspended freshman year for two semesters. i am back at the college, and am able to stay here and graduate on time and everything. however, i am not as socially happy as i would like given what happened, and so i was debating transferring. the common app does have a question that would get me (asks if youve ever been suspended/expelled) and i was wondering what would happen if i put no on it…

i know its morally wrong so probs wont actually do it, but just wanted to know what the consequences would be if they were to find out i lied. obviously i wouldnt get in to the new college, but would there be any further repercussions of my lying? i guess my main question also entails what exactly colleges find out from your current school? i know some colleges require a disciplinary letter thing to be filled out by the dean- so i would avoid schools requiring that. also, i am currently in good standing with my school since i am back.

also, wondering if anyone could provide a list of schools NOT on the common app, just so i could maybe get lucky with one of them wording the question in a way that puts me in the clear.

so basically im asking:
what would happen if i lied about being suspended and the college found out (obvi wouldnt get accepted, but could i get in trouble in other ways)
what do transfer admissions people usually obtain from your current college
what colleges don’t use common app

The consequences wouldn’t be good and there’s a high likelihood they would find out. But you’re right: it’s dishonest, so you shouldn’t do it, @potatoes1588

You’re registered in a college clearinghouse. They’ll ask your first college about your records.
Most flagships aren’t on common app.
