What exactly goes on a resume?

Is it things that aren't on your transcript, etc.? Or is it just everything? From anything to everything?

What sub-sections do most people use?

And one personal question: can I put something from the 8th grade if it's considered big? I got a high honor in a Long Island science competition. Worth it?

No one? Should I just make it look more or like a regular "Chances" thread?

lol sung.

Correct me if i am wrong but your resume isnt a physical thing it is just what people refer to when they talk about everything. Like your scores, classes, ECs, awards etc. are all part of your resume but you dont draft a document with all of those.

Wow that probably was the wrong answer to the wrong question.
I would say you could put it on, just put the date or W.e

Yes and no. If you feel like you wouldn't be able to explain your ECs or honors clearly on the regular application (if there are a lot of them, or if any merit a special description) then you can put together a physical resume to display them all. Many people do.

They're usually 1-2 pages long, and there is no hard-and-fast format - people generally have an awards & academic honors section and an extracurricular section (with a sentence-long description of each EC, and special honors and leadership positions listed underneath). Depending on what else you've been doing you may want to add sections for work experience, community service, or summer activities.

Generally, you should leave off middle school accomplishments unless they're things like winning the Scripps Howard Spelling Bee. Otherwise colleges aren't that impressed.

Your resume is basically what isn't on your transcript or sent by the test center.

-ECs
-Awards/Honors
-Community service
-Work experience

(usually grouped in this way)

These are things you probably all can't fit on the little space the application gives you to list. Also, I've heard from people that it's best to keep a resume at one page for your application.

Usually, colleges say to put the ECs, honors/awards, and community service you've done since 9th grade.

So I shouldn't repeat anyting that could already be found on the app? Can I reiterate things?

Well, you could to elaborate on something maybe but anything other than that would be redundant.
